The first SARS-CoV-2 infected case in Nepal was reported on 23 January 2020 in a Nepalese man who had returned to Kathmandu from Wuhan, China (Figure 1). He had symptoms on 3 January 2020, six days before flying back to Nepal.

Nepal on Sunday reported the first Covid-19 death in 73 days, marking the first death of the fourth wave of the pandemic.

Over three thousand persons have died due to COVID-related deaths in Nepal since May 16, 2020.

According to District Health Office Chitwan Chief Deepak Tiwari, the coronavirus was confirmed after the death of a 108-year-old woman of Khairhani Municipality-3 in Chitwan.

Doctors say attributing coronavirus-related deaths simply to pre-existing and underlying conditions is akin to refusing to accept the threat of the virus which has penetrated society.
